On Wednesday, February 8th, the Vestry of St. Margaret’s and San Francisco de Asís Episcopal Church in Miami Lakes met with Archdeacon Thomas Bruttell and Archdeacon Bryan Hobbs of the Diocese of Southeast Florida. Discussion included the parish covenant with the Diocese and a significant change. Father Richard J. Aguilar, Priest-in-charge since June 1, 2009, has submitted a letter of resignation to the Rt. Rev. Leo Frade, Diocesan Bishop, effective May 31, 2012. Father Richard’s last Sunday at the Episcopal Church in Miami Lakes will be February 19th and present that day will be Archdeacon Bryan Hobbs. On Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, Father Richard will begin a non-stipendiary ministry as assisting priest at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Miami. There will be one service at 11:00am on Sunday, February 19th in order to bid farewell to Father Richard, his wife Janet, and daughter Michelle (who is a freshman at Sewanee). During this time of transition every parishioner of St. Margaret’s and San Francisco de Asís is asked to: “pray” daily for God’s guidance; “work” by giving time to a ministry of the parish; and ”give” by making a generous financial pledge to the church budget in order “build up the Body of Christ”.
